The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians is the first Tribe to win a U.S. Department of Education Promise Neighborhood grant. The funding is aimed at transforming distressed communities.

Promise Neighborhood grants first launched in 2010, offering holistic support to students through a wide range of programs. The Paskenta Band has been awarded $2.7 million. Funding will benefit the Tribe and about 10,000 residents in the surrounding area.
