WASHINGTON – Stewards of Affordable Housing for the Future (SAHF) announced today that Eileen Fitzgerald will join the organization as President in late July, taking over the role from Bill Kelly, who will step into an advisory role at SAHF.
“As a visionary leader, Ms. Fitzgerald will guide SAHF to meet the current and future needs of its members and the non-for-profit affordable rental housing industry,” said SAHF founder and former president Bill Kelly. “She has the intellect, passion and extensive background to make her the ideal person to lead SAHF.”
Ms. Fitzgerald will identify, develop and advocate for key strategic issues of concern to the organization and its members, work to create a level playing field for effective nonprofit businesses and heighten SAHF’s impact in improving the lives and opportunities for the rental housing residents of its members.

At SAHF, we are committed to the difference a quality and affordable home makes in someone’s life and will work diligently to ensure that affordable rental homes are more available across the nation,” said Eileen Fitzgerald, SAHF President.
Ms. Fitzgerald has been active in the housing and community development industry for over 20 years including senior roles at the Fannie Mae Foundation, the McAuley Institute, the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust, and at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Most recently, Ms. Fitzgerald served as Chief Executive Officer at NeighborWorks America.
Ms. Fitzgerald holds a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University. She is also holds a master’s degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. Ms. Fitzgerald also serves on the boards of the National Housing Conference and the National Rural Housing Coalition.
