Girl drinking from drinking fountainThe State Water Resources Control Board is currently accepting applications for grant funds to improve access to safe drinking water for students.

The Drinking Water for Schools Program funds water bottle filling stations, drinking fountains, point-of-entry or point-of-use treatment where contamination is an issue. Funds may also be used to replace or repair drinking water and plumbing fixtures, and to purchase bottled water for interim use.

Applications are currently restricted to those from schools or districts serving small, disadvantaged communities. After June 2018, projects serving larger disadvantaged communities may apply for funds.

Rural Community Assistance Corporation was selected to provide technical assistance to qualified applicants.
