Fallon Food Hub brings farm-to-fork choices to community

Fallon, Nev. – When Kelli Kelly arrived in this western Nevada desert community in 2009, the seemingly endless austere landscape might have given her pause.

Her boyfriend at the time – who has since become her husband – suspected she might be put off. Fallon has a population of around 9,000 and Kelly recalls his warning that relocating there from her San Diego home could be “a relationship killer.” Read more

RCAC Loan Fund lends more than $10 million to rural communities

West Sacramento, Calif. – In the quarter ending Sept. 30, 2017, Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) closed 30 loans totaling more than $10 million to assist rural communities in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Washington. One loan will support a community health nonprofit organization in central California. Another loan will support a Washington tenant organization’s manufactured housing community acquisition. David É Provost elected RCAC board president

West Sacramento, Calif. — Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) elected David É. Provost Board of Directors president in early November. He has served on the board since 2006 and previously was the vice president. Read more

RCAC seeks nominations for the Yoneo Ono Rural Volunteer Award. The award honors rural people who have made significant lifelong contributions to their community in volunteer capacities. Small water systems throughout the country have volunteer board members governing their public water system. According to the Fair Political Practices Board and the State Attorney General, in California all new and existing board members are required to attend two hours of an ethics training once every two years.
