I have the pleasure of working with Community Rebuilds Moab, Utah, a U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Mutual Self-Help Housing grantee that takes a unique building approach that focuses on low-carbon, energy-efficient homes. Community Rebuilds started out replacing pre-1976 trailer homes and is currently building 28 self-help homes on the Community Land Trust.

The Utah Capacity Building Collaborative (UCBC), a Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) initiative kicked off its first Network Training in Salt Lake City March 14 – 15. Through the initiative, RCAC staff provide technical support to four rural agencies to build organizational capacity and provide affordable housing development training coupled with direct operating support.
RCAC received a $25,000 grant this week from Ally Bank. The funds will be used to support capacity building development for low-income rural Utah residents and Tribal members.
