Utah Capacity Building Collaborative holds first training seminar

The Utah Capacity Building Collaborative (UCBC), a Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) initiative kicked off its first Network Training in Salt Lake City March 14 – 15. Through the initiative, RCAC staff provide technical support to four rural agencies to build organizational capacity and provide affordable housing development training coupled with direct operating support.

RCAC Loan Fund lends more than $8.3 million to rural communities

West Sacramento, Calif. — In the quarter ending Dec. 31, 2015, Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) closed 29 loans totaling more than $8.3 million to assist rural communities in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington and Utah with housing, water infrastructure and community development projects.

Shelter versus Housing

Although Utah can claim that it has led the nation in housing its chronically homeless residents—it counts now just 200—homeless numbers in the state continue to rise, with an additional 14,000 registering at shelters in 2015.

Utah reduces chronic homeless population

Utah’s homeless advocates are celebrating a milestone in the fight to keep residents housed. During the past 10 years, the state’s chronically homeless population dropped from 2,000 to less than 200.
