Foundation partnership will focus on America’s housing crisis

America’s housing crisis continues with no end in sight. As rents increase threefold over wages, more than 11 million families spend more than half of their pay for housing. According to Huffington Post, nine foundations formed a partnership to fund policy, advocacy and organizing to increase access to affordable housing for low-income families and those facing homelessness.

Rural water systems struggle with treatment techniques, study finds

Many of the nation’s local water systems are failing to meet federal sanitary requirements, according to a new study. Researchers writing in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences say that every year since 1982, up to 10 percent of the country’s water systems have violated the federal Safe Drinking Water Act. As many as 21 million Americans may have been exposed to unsafe drinking water in 2015 alone.
