Gov. Jared Polis appeared in a Facebook live event on May 19 with the heads of Colorado Department of Agriculture and the Department of Human Services. The two state agencies have announced a collection of mental health resources aimed at rural Colorado communities. The agencies announced a new “toolkit” that has resulted from a partnership of the two agencies. The toolkit promotes Colorado Crisis Services, the statewide behavioral health crisis response system offering residents mental health, substance use or emotional crisis support, information and referrals.

The rate of suicide in rural areas is higher in Colorado than in urban areas, at 27.7 deaths per 100,000 people versus 22.1 per 100,000, respectively.
