Second Tribal Housing Excellence Academy cohort graduates

Not long ago, the Hualapai Tribe in northwest Arizona was faced with a waiting list of 84 families that needed homes. The list had been in the making for five years and due to a reduction in Indian Housing Block Grant funds, housing development on the Hualapai Reservation had stalled. Read more

Rural Community Assistance Corporation’s Loan Fund celebrates 30 years

RCAC created the Loan Fund in 1988 with an initial $1 million investment from the Ford Foundation. An additional $1 million loan (later converted to a grant) from Bank of America boosted lending capital. The Loan Fund was later certified as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), and currently has an Aeris rating of 4 Stars AA plus Policy Plus. Read more

This three-day advanced course will cover USDA Rural Development’s (RD) Section 502 direct loan program and provide invaluable insight as to how this homeownership financing resource can be used in your communities.

Participants who attend this three-day training and pass the online exam will be better equipped to package 502 loan applications on behalf of parties seeking USDA RD assistance. The course is also excellent for Mutual Self-Help Housing grantees who want to build their skills in packaging loans for participating households. More information and registration.
