West Sacramento, Calif. — Wells Fargo Foundation granted $250,000 to Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) to advance its efforts to improve housing security by providing tools and training to vulnerable communities across the rural West.

RCAC is among several national housing counseling intermediaries that received grants to strengthen housing stability for renters and homeowners in regions facing rising financial challenges. RCAC will use the funding to enhance local housing counselors’ and nonprofit housing providers’ capacity to offer foreclosure prevention assistance, eviction assistance, financial counseling and coaching.

Through this partnership with Wells Fargo, RCAC will continue implementing the Keeping People Housed initiative and fortify support for housing counseling agencies that provide financial literacy services and training on critical topics including home affordability, budgeting, credit history, fair housing regulations, and homebuyer education. As state and federal programs associated with COVID-19 have ended, demand for these services has increased exponentially, underscoring their critical importance in helping people stay in their homes.

“RCAC applauds Wells Fargo for providing resources to help renters and homeowners navigate difficult economic times and remain safe in their homes,” said Suzanne Anarde, RCAC Chief Executive Officer. “We’re grateful for the consistent support for our rural communities.”
