The newly formed Water Finance Exchange (WFX) in partnership with Rural Community Assistance Corporation, Rural Community Assistance Partnership and CoBank has established a rural community predevelopment fund. The fund will serve as a catalyst for investments in small water and wastewater systems in the form of infrastructure and technical assistance.

“WFX is filling a key need in the US water sector, bringing together key organizations, financial institutions and water experts to support communities struggling to maintain and finance sustainable water systems,” said Hank Habicht, WFX co-founder, in a press release published by 3BL CSR Wire.

While RCAC and RCAP have been active in water and wastewater investments for some time, WFX is launching to increase investment in the nation’s aging water and wastewater infrastructure and to help meet the growing needs and funding gaps of small and mid-sized utilities across the U.S.

Millions of Americans lack access to safe drinking water or use aging wastewater systems.
