RCAC and Partners Deploy Trash Boom to Fight Tijuana River Pollution

IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. — For decades, the beaches of Imperial Beach have been ground zero for a severe ecological problem that locals can smell before they see. Located just 15 miles south of downtown San Diego, this small coastal community has witnessed an unrelenting assault of raw sewage, industrial waste and debris that the Tijuana River delivers to its doorstep after every significant rainfall.

Our programs

Community Economic Development

RCAC’s comprehensive CED services support rural and Indigenous communities to create a vision, set goals and implement an action plan for community development projects.

Community Resilience and Disaster Planning

CRDP supports communities to build a legacy of economic and business resilience, safety and sustainability, creating a strong foundation for future generations.

Environmental

RCAC works with rural water, wastewater and solid waste systems to ensure they are sustainable and able to provide safe, reliable drinking water to their communities.

Housing

RCAC’s housing programs support organizations that develop affordable single- and multifamily homes and operate programs that prepare rural residents for homeownership.

Lending

RCAC’s Loan Fund is a financial resource for rural and Indigenous communities.

Indigenous Communities

All RCAC services are available to and have a priority to work with tribes and Indigenous communities. In addition, there are programs designed specifically for tribes.

Rooted Relative Fund

The RRF is a reciprocal relationship lending initiative that will provide patient capital to Indigenous entrepreneurs.

Environmental Finance Centers

RCAC is the EFC for California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii and Pacific islands (Region 9) and Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington (Region 10).

Trainings & Events

RCAC takes pride in its professional trainer team’s capacity and effectiveness. Trainers maximize audience participation to keep training relevant and memorable.
