“Rural America at a Glance,” U.S. Department of Agriculture Economic Research Service’s annual report provides great insight into economic and social trends in rural counties. According to the Daily Yonder, it’s worth a second glance.

“For example, while nonmetropolitan population has declined just slightly during this decade, a closer look reveals that rural counties with larger small towns and cities have grown over the period, while all other types of nonmetropolitan counties have lost population since 2010,” the article says.

The annual reference document also includes details about employment and economics.
