From ‘Poverty with a View’ to Housing Equity: Wells Fargo Teams Up with RCAC and HSNA to Bring Hope to Northern Arizona

Nearly half a century ago, the phrase “poverty with a view” was coined to poke fun at the exorbitant cost of living in Flagstaff, Arizona. Today, it serves as a bleak reminder of a worsening crisis that threatens to uproot the region’s most vulnerable communities. A journey through Northern Arizona can reveal some of the nation’s most awe-inspiring landscapes: Sedona’s fiery red rocks, the Grand Canyon’s imposing chasms and the world’s most extensive ponderosa pine forest. However, these breathtaking vistas offer little comfort to local communities grappling with a growing affordable housing crisis that threatens to plunge them into a relentless cycle of poverty.

Safe Drinking Water Act & Consumer Confidence Reports Series (New Mexico)
August 9, 2023 | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Mountain Time | Online

This course provides basic information to water systems to familiarize themselves with the federal Safe Drinking Water Act in operating and managing their water systems. It will also provide basic training to board members/operators in creating and completing a Consumer Confidence Report utilizing the EPA’s CCRI-writer tool.

Internal Controls (California)
August 15, 2023 | 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM Pacific Time | Online

The purpose of this training event is to provide California small water systems with the tools necessary to safeguard assets and minimize risks to financial objectives. Many systems lack basic understanding of how to establish processes and procedures designed to improve the reliability of financial reporting and accountability to stakeholders; prevent loss of resources and public assets; and achieve budget targets. This training will be presented to provide managers and governing bodies with basic knowledge and emphasize tools/resources available to understand how to develop adequate internal controls needed to strengthen the water enterprise’s financial health.

RD Apply: Guidance on Applying for USDA Loans (Utah)

This free training will discuss the application and requirements for USDA funding. We will touch on eligible borrowers and projects, the application process, required documents, and the letter of conditions. This training is intended to educate communities on opportunities for funding, how to best prepare, and what to expect when applying.
