West Sacramento, Calif. — Bank of America awarded Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) a $65,000 grant to meet the growing demand for its services in the rural West. RCAC enhances other rural nonprofit organizations’ capacity; protects rural community environment and health; and promotes and finances affordable housing, infrastructure, small businesses and community facilities.

The grant will help RCAC achieve its strategic plan goals, particularly through direct assistance to rural areas with high unemployment rates, poverty and housing insecurity; increasing rural housing opportunities by diversifying local nonprofit services; and strengthening the skills of organizations that provide Indigenous and rural communities with infrastructure, housing and other essential services.

“Bank of America has been a valuable partner to us for many years, and we are pleased to continue that relationship,” said Suzanne Anarde, RCAC’s chief executive officer. “With the bank’s support, we have expanded affordable and safe housing and made a strong positive impact on rural communities’ welfare.”

Founded in 1978, RCAC provides training, technical and financial resources and advocacy so rural communities can achieve their goals and visions. RCAC serves rural communities in 13 western states and western Pacific islands. Services are available to communities with populations of fewer than 50,000, other nonprofit groups, Tribal organizations, farmworkers, colonias and other specific populations. RCAC staff provides direct services in program areas including affordable housing, environmental services, economic development and lending. To learn more about RCAC, visit http://www.rcac.org
