Where: Fallon, Churchill County, Nevada

Problem: Rural and Indigenous communities lack financial resources and staff capacity.

Solution: RCAC provides technical assistance to secure grants and loans.

RCAC provided technical assistance for New Frontier Clinic & Treatment Center in Fallon, Churchill County, Nevada. New Frontier is a nonprofit corporation that promotes wellness by providing substance and behavioral health services to the community of just under 10,000 people.

RCAC’s ongoing coordination and application assistance supported the approval of a U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development (USDA RD) Community Facilities Direct Loan and award of one USDA RD Emergency Rural Health Care grant for a total $3.77 million to construct a new facility. These are complex application packages that can prove cumbersome for capacity-challenged rural nonprofit organizations. RD staff also have demanding workloads, so RCAC staff assisted with compiling documents, coordinating communication and completing the application.

Technical assistance for all community facility loan and grant programs is greatly needed to ensure local entities and nonprofit organizations can access these critical funds to serve their communities.
