Issue: A small business needed financing to expand and add new jobs

Outcome: RCAC’s Loan Fund provided a $64,350 loan for equipment and inventory purchases and a $300,000 line-of-credit to provide short-term cash flow

West Village Packaging, LLC is a small, rural packaging company in Woodland, Washington. The company converts paper and plastic into various packaging products and distributes them.

The owner, James Rogers, needed additional equipment to fulfill a large contract with another packaging company and to expand his business. The expansion created three new and retained nine existing jobs.

The business had limited credit history, which made qualifying for traditional financing difficult. However Rogers had solid personal credit, and the business was profitable. RCAC’s Loan Fund provided a $64,350 loan for the necessary equipment and a $300,000 revolving line-of-credit, which the owner uses to cover short-term cash flow needs.

This financing promotes rural economic development by allowing a small business to expand, become more profitable and provide new jobs to the community.
